🎯 Yolo County — Course of Fire

📋 Overview

Effective April 4, 2023, Yolo County requires all students to complete the live-fire qualification with every firearm to be listed on their license.
Students must also safely demonstrate draw and presentation from a holster with at least one firearm.

🔫 Live-Fire Course Stages (Total 50 Rounds)

Stage 1: 10 yards — 5 rounds
Stage 2: 10 yards — 5 rounds
Stage 3: 7 yards — 10 rounds
Stage 4: 5 yards — 5 rounds (support hand only)
Stage 5: 5 yards — 5 rounds (in 30 seconds)
Stage 6: 5 yards — 5 rounds, reload, then 5 rounds (in 2 minutes)
Stage 7: 3 yards — 5 rounds (support hand only)
Stage 8: 3 yards — 5 rounds (strong hand only)

🟦 Total: 50 rounds per firearm

🎯 Target Requirements

• Target dimensions: 12 × 16 inches
• Must be capable of being scored (paper or approved scoring target)

🏅 Scoring Standards

• Minimum Passing Score: 70% (35 of 50 hits in the scoring area)
• Preferred Score: 80% (40 of 50 hits in the scoring area)

💡 Tips for Students

• 🔋 Bring at least 50 rounds of factory ammunition per firearm (plus extra if you want a practice round)
• 🧰 Bring required magazines or speed loaders for each firearm listed on your license
• 🧤 Be prepared to shoot with both your strong and support hands as indicated
• 🎒 Bring a holster suitable for safe draw and presentation
• 💬 If you have questions about timing, hand use, or scoring, ask before firing
